What is the Global Orion Award?
An honor presented by the Global Service Excellence Society to outstanding achievers who, through hard work, determination, and perseverance, rise to excellence and make the world a better place.
Who presents it?
The Global Service Excellence Society. The Award and the Hall of Fame are overseen by the Society’s officers.
Why is it named Orion?
For thousands of years the constellation Orion has guided travelers on both sides of the world. Orion’s Belt — three bright stars in a line — is its most familiar mark. The Award uses that idea as its emblem: a clear standard of direction and excellence.
Who can receive the Award?
Individuals whose work has had a lasting effect on others — in industry, science, the arts, education, public life, or humanitarian service. A well-known name is not required. A documented contribution is.
Is the Award only given after someone has died?
No. Living honorees may be recognized. Separately, since 2019 the Society has inducted extraordinary figures posthumously into the Global Orion Award Hall of Fame.
What is the Hall of Fame?
A permanent roll of posthumous honorees whose achievements continue to set an example. Inductees on the current record include figures such as Rockefeller, Carnegie, Edison, Tesla, Einstein, Salk, Mother Teresa, Steve Jobs, and others listed on the Hall of Fame page.
How do I nominate someone?
Send the nominee’s name, field, and whether they are living or deceased, plus a short statement of their achievement and any supporting links, to info@GlobalOrionAward.com or tony@GlobalOrionAward.com. You may also use the Nominate page.
May I nominate myself?
Yes, if your body of work meets the standard described above.
Does a nomination guarantee the Award?
No. Every nomination is reviewed. The Society may request more detail, decline to proceed, or hold a name for a later cycle.
Is there an application fee?
Nominations are received by the Society at the addresses above. If a fee or further requirement applies to a given cycle, you will be told before anything is due.
Who reviews nominations?
The Society’s officers, including the Director of Research & Evaluation.
How will I know if a nomination has advanced?
The nominator will be contacted if a name moves forward.
